4K Stogram is discontinued. Here's what to use instead (2026)

4K Download stopped selling and updating 4K Stogram in 2025. A look at what changed, and what a working replacement needs to do.

Updated September 16, 2026

If you’re here, you probably opened 4K Stogram one day and it stopped loading profiles. That’s not you. In spring 2025, 4K Download announced that 4K Stogram was discontinued: no more updates, no more licence sales, and no guarantee it keeps working. Their stated reason was Instagram’s increasing restrictions and the risk to users’ Instagram accounts.

Why it broke

4K Stogram signed in to Instagram as you. That was fine for years, then Instagram started treating automated logins as a reason to flag or lock accounts. Any tool built on your login was living on borrowed time.

What a replacement has to do

  1. Not need your Instagram login. Reading public profiles through a data-access provider, instead of your account, removes the account-flagging risk entirely.
  2. Follow profiles, not just posts. The whole point of 4K Stogram was “subscribe to a profile and new posts appear”. A one-link-at-a-time web downloader isn’t a replacement.
  3. Save real files to real folders, not into a browser download pile or a cloud locker.
  4. Skip what you already have, so daily checks don’t create duplicates.
  5. Be maintained — and have a business model that pays for that maintenance when the platforms change.

Where Stogramable fits

Stogramable is a Mac app built around exactly that list:

  • Public Instagram profiles are read without any login.
  • You follow a profile once; daily checks download only new photos, videos, Reels and full carousels.
  • Files go to ~/Pictures/Stogramable/<profile>/Pictures and /Reels (or an external drive), verified and deduplicated.
  • It also does Facebook — profile photos, Reels and Highlights — which 4K Stogram never did.

It is a subscription rather than a one-time licence. That’s deliberate: keeping Instagram and Facebook access working is ongoing work, and one-time pricing is part of why 4K Stogram couldn’t keep going.

What it doesn’t do

Stories, private accounts, and Windows (yet). We’d rather say that here than have you find out after paying.

If you’re looking for a home for the profiles you used to follow in 4K Stogram, join early access — invitations go out in order, and the early-access price is locked for as long as you stay subscribed.
